Jason Tammemägi is creator, writer and director of preschool shows, Fluffy Gardens and Planet Cosmo. A writer/director/producer of kid’s content, he has written 14 hours of children’s television and directed well over 20, with more than 15 years experience in the business. Creative director of Geronimo Productions (formerly Monster Animation) for over 10 years, shaping both the creative vision of the studio and the production methods and systems to make top-quality shows happen on a tight budget.

Jason writes for Irish parenting site, dad.ie on children, television and parenting.

Jason loves good children’s programming, with a particular expertise in preschool – he’ll talk about preschool with anyone who will listen (and frequently with those who won’t).

He is also co-creator of two happy little girls. They’re getting pretty heavy now and don’t sit on his shoulders half as much.

.

CREATOR

Jason created hit preschool show Fluffy Gardens, a gentle show featuring cute eccentric animal characters. The show launched in 2007 and took off from there, going from RTE in Ireland, Cartoonito in the UK and ABC in Australia to over 100 countries worldwide. A second series brought the show up to 80 episodes plus a Christmas Special. Jason’s latest creation is Planet Cosmo, a cartoon show to introduce young children to the Solar System. Planet Cosmo is on air in Ireland on RTE and international broadcast dates will be announced soon.

.

WRITER

Jason has written 80 episodes of Fluffy Gardens and all 15 episodes of Planet Cosmo. With a special interest in writing for younger children, Jason aims for fun, simplicity and smiles and, along the way, hopes to write shows that parents enjoy too.

.

DIRECTOR

Moving from commercials and short films to children’s television, Jason’s big directorial break came with Roobarb & Custard Too, which he directed in its entirety. From there, Jason directed both series of Fluffy Gardens, Irish animated drama series Ballybraddan and the Fluffy Gardens Christmas Special. Jason also served as Creative Director on ground-breaking preschool show, Punky, working with writer Andrew Brenner and director Simon Crane to bring the show from concept to television.

Jason strives and searches for better entertainment for children. Entertainment that speaks to children everywhere, that is good for children without being bland. Fun, positivity, learning. Enrichment television.
