Jason Tammemägi is best known for his preschool children’s television work, creating and driving enriching content that is enjoyed across the globe. Positive entertainment with a fun spark that speaks to children and parents everywhere.
An independent writer/director/producer of children’s content, he has written 15 hours of kids television and directed well over 20, with more than 15 years experience in the business. Previously, Jason was the Creative Director of Geronimo Productions (formerly Monster Animation) for 13 years, where he shaped the creative vision of the studio, forming and refining the production methods and systems needed to make top-quality content on a tight budget.
Jason takes concepts from the blank page all the way to screen and beyond – creating, designing, building production systems, managing studio methods and leading artistic teams.
Jason’s first preschool show, the gentle Fluffy Gardens, launched in 2007 on RTE in Ireland, Cartoonito in the UK and ABC in Australia and then sold to over 100 countries worldwide. His latest creation, Planet Cosmo, recently debuted on RTE in Ireland to a fantastic reaction and has just begun to pick up international sales including YLE in Finland and Canal Panda in Portugal. Jason created, wrote and directed both shows in their entirety, as well as voicing ‘Dad’ in Planet Cosmo.
His other children’s work includes directing Roobarb & Custard Too, the follow-up to the 1974 cult classic starring the wonderful Richard Briers, directing Irish animated drama Ballybraddan and serving as Creative Director on Punky, the ground-breaking preschool about a little girl with Down syndrome. Jason is currently script editing on Nelly & Nora and is deep in production on a children’s app, soon to be released.
Jason strives for content that entertains, enriches and works with parents.
He is also the co-creator of two wonderful little girls.
